There were quite a few instructions. I had to call Revane to find out exactly what the buttons mean. Sensitivity at 7 turned off the sound and vibration even when my dog wasn't barking. I'm glad I didn't have a percussion part! As I lowered the sensitivity, her bark became less loud—more like a deep ruff than a large bay (she's a beagle! Nuff said!). The vibration initially seemed sufficient, but now I find I have to turn the shock down to its lowest level to get their attention. I use a collar when she's outside, but indoors I use an ultrasonic bark. The combination of these two factors significantly reduced their barking. The collar is too big, but I tie the excess to the collar. My dog was somewhere between two sizes so I ordered the larger one. I didn't want to cut it in case I had to use it on my other dog. You should remember to turn it off when it's not with your dog to conserve battery life. But overall it really reduced the barking in my beagle!
