Review on πŸ“Έ Enhance Your Canon Lens Compatibility with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R by Jathan Louis

It works, somehow. - Camera and photo

It does the job in terms of mounting an EF lens this body, but I noticed one thing that's frustrating, and that's the autofocus. When using a Canon EF 100mm macro lens on my 6D, I can easily switch from macro to non-macro from a distance using autofocus. But on the EOS R with this adapter ring, the autofocus is limited to a small step. This means that unless I manually rotate the focus ring to get closer to my location, the autofocus won't work even at close range if I'm just a foot away from focus and want to focus on a closer subject. If I'm looking at how it's focusing, or if I'm going back to where my camera is currently set up, hold autofocus and gradually move so it can focus in smaller increments. With this adapter there is no jumping from reduced to enlarged. So just know. Like I said, it works somehow. I know a workaround. It takes a little more effort, but it works.

Pros
  • Standard mount adapter ensures EF/EF-S lenses are compatible with EOS R camera
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
