Review on πŸ”¦ Torchstar LED Safe Lighting Kit: Motion Sensor, 6 Linkable Light Bars, UL Power Adapter – Ideal for Gun Safe, Closet, Under Cabinet and More - 5000K Daylight by Matthew Mosley

Not as bright as expected.

Bought two of these motion detection kits to fix my Liberty 50 pistol and a small safe in the closet. After modeling one set in my large safe and not noticing any difference with the lights on, I hooked up another set to see what was wrong with them, but they are identical. I ended up using both sets in a small 13 gun safe which is very light gray (almost white) so I was very disappointed when one set left a very gloomy look there. I don't know how some of those other images got such a result from these. I couldn't imagine using them as closet lighting. I have a small battery powered Hornady flashlight attached to the top of my 50's pistol which puts out a ton more light. Otherwise the motion detector works. Not as fast as that Hornady, it takes a few seconds but it doesn't matter, at least until every second counts, that will be your test. The addition of 3M adhesive to the two sides of the corner mounting plates is a nice touch, and I really appreciate not cutting corners on the adhesive. Given the worldwide shortage, I'm not sure if they were the source of the low quality LEDs or if the photos here confirm that. But I would say if your application has colorful surfaces so as not to absorb a lot of light I would try these. Worst case, buy another kit with a switch to add the lighting after the fact. I'm a bit frustrated that I had to use a different set for the movement, but I think I have a spare set now.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Almost OK
