Well it works and yes it is Sata 3.1 but there are a few things I didn't like. First, it gets very hot during use. Second, there is no LED to indicate disk access. There is a RED LED on the bottom to indicate power is on. While a 20-inch cable might be enough for laptop use, it's a real problem for a desktop with USB3 ports on the back.
