So I did a pretty strenuous performance test by taking a full roll of CAT 6 solid copper with a reinforced POE switch and placing it at the end. At first I was very impressed with the switch I used so I could turn on the camera at the end of the reel to start with actually good quality video. At 1000 feet (304.8m) we're more than three times the CAT 6 length limit. I'm not chasing gigabit speeds, of course, but still. Anyway, I added this extension and an additional camera along with the first one, both on cables several meters long. Everything worked perfectly. The only thing I can't SAY is that it works without going back to the control pc. I really wish it had status LEDs, although for a harsh weather application I can't use them too often. Call it 4.5 stars. The case is generally a nice extruded package and the connectors are probably about as watertight as possible when installed correctly, but I wouldn't rely on this case alone. I definitely recommend installing it horizontally so the water doesn't try to go one way or the other.
