I've been using this jug every day for several months and it still looks new inside and out. That might sound great, but if it was real unplated copper it would have tarnished a lot. I have since bought copper vessels from other sources for comparison purposes. So at best painted or something in there. I've also stored small ceramic utensils on it which leave small scratches which would be fine except the brass or copper plating appears to scratch exposing the darker non-copper metal underneath. I admit that this last part is more of a speculation. Perhaps the scratches will scrape the plating and oxidize the bare copper underneath. They look too dark and black, but who knows. Anyway, it's not as advertised. I'm sure the company isn't actively trying to fool people. I know for a fact that you can order through Revain from a reputable company and still receive a counterfeit, but ultimately it is the company's responsibility if they choose to sell through Revain.
