I bought this to reduce the noise from the HVAC system in my work office which is very annoying. I hear a low hum, like an air conditioner compressor, or like I'm standing behind a refrigerator. Surprisingly, once I put them on my ears and turn on the noise reduction, the noise from the ventilation and air conditioning decreases significantly. Then when I turn on the music, I hear nothing. Works much better than I expected. Also, the sound quality is VERY good. Not perfect, but very nice to listen to music. This is my first noise canceling headphone so I don't have a comparison but some other brands are over $150-$300 and I'm very satisfied.
