Let's start with the most important: There are some features that I don't think are safe for pets. First, what I didn't like: - laborious and tedious to assemble. It comes disassembled so you have to assemble it piece by piece. There are four pieces that mate with these groove/flange fasteners that are difficult to assemble. The pattern is basically just a "picking up the pieces" so you have to guess how they are arranged - they only fit together correctly in one case. They then give you a small bag of tiny plastic ties to secure the attachment points and each piece has small holes for the ties to thread through. An odd way to put together a small animal house, but still. There weren't enough zip ties to secure each point and some of the ones provided broke. They can be chewed off and are just the right size to be dangerous to a small animal like a cat or kitten. They are not nested, hidden, or made inaccessible in any way to a curious and active animal. We are currently raising a 12 week old kitten and she immediately started chewing on everything before we had all the pieces together. The whole is made of thick felt fabric and is easily gnawed through by a determined tooth. The same applies to screeds. I find this to be an odd choice for small animal furniture and once in place it will not be hidden or inaccessible in any way. These pieces are very small, thin pieces of plastic that could be chewed. What I LOVE: The thick felt fabric is actually quite nice I think and the cats seem to like it a lot. The only problem with the fabric is those little flanges. The house itself is cute and the slots in the walls are quite thought out - just the sort of thing cats will love - it's great for cats - the pillow provided was a nice touch and seems pretty sturdy and well made. The (very minimal) instructions state that the pillow is machine washable (the rest of the house is not). Overall I'd say it's not a total loss - I just wouldn't give it to young cats who like to nibble on anything without close supervision. I think this is perfect for an older cat (or small dog) that may have outgrown the chewing stage and just loves a little hideaway to nap in.
