The price was okay for an impulse purchase and I found it easy to use. Aside from cutting the melon in half, there's little risk of cutting yourself and a lot less mess since the juice stays in the watermelon "bowl" when you cut the flesh. This device made slicing watermelon into a fruit salad so easy that I volunteered to repeat it for lunch together this week. If you want to cut it into a "slice," you're limited to a watermelon no more than 10-11 inches in diameter, as that's the reach of the cutting edge. The blade isn't sharp, but you can still pull the tool through a ripe watermelon with very little effort. The unit washes well by hand and the finish is just beautiful.
