My setup: Verizon FIOS Motorola HD DVR Samsung 8500 Series PlasmaXbox One My son and I want to make the Xbox the main device in the house; my wife and my daughter - not so much. In order for the house to have quiet and FIOS through the Xbox, I need to split the signal so the other half can watch TV without the Xbox. If you doubt the rationality of the previous statement, read no further. I tried a very good Monoprice splitter but it didn't work. It looks like the HDMI passthrough is not 'active' (read splitter detectable) until the TV app is running on the Xbox. I proved this on my old splitter by first signaling the FIOS directly to the Xbox and then quickly switching to the splitter signal. The Monoprice splitter detected a "hot" feed from the Xbox and I was able to watch TV. However, when I turned off the Xbox and came back the next day - same problem. Went online and found out where someone bought this splitter (accidentally) and it worked. Bought and delivered Prime (must love this service) at 1/3 the size, 1/2 the price and no frills in the packaging - all good. Swapped the old for the new, launched the TV app and the red LED indicating the detected signal was lit on the splitter and the FIOS was enabled. Stopped the app and after a few seconds the LED went off. Repeat several times, turn off the power, etc. to be sure. This splitter speaks clearly to the Xbox and easily detects the signal after launching the TV app.
