Review on ABN Automotive Conditioner Quick Disconnect by Brian Vasquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

You need to bevel the big ones

Disclaimer. I have never tried to remove a car air conditioner in my life. I purchased this kit to remove the air conditioning lines to the evaporator core on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. The 5/8" tool had enough chamfer on the end of the tool to get between the tube wall and the spring to push the spring enough to remove the air conditioning line with little force. However, the 3/4 inch tool didn't have enough taper to get between the tube wall and the spring. I tried to pull the line out for over an hour before realizing the spring wasn't retracting. I looked at the end of the tool that was supposed to pass between the pipe wall and the source and noticed that it was almost square. I trimmed the end with a pocket knife to create enough bevel to allow the tool to slip between the tube wall and the spring. After a bit of trial and error I created enough bevels. I pressed down with the tool and heard a magic click telling me the spring had retracted and the tool was working like a charm. The tools are strong enough not to flex excessively when applying the necessary pressure to retract the spring. And there's enough material on the ends to be able to make a decent bevel on them without weakening the tool to the point where it becomes unusable. regularly.
