I use this between a 100w solar panel which puts out 17-18v in full sun and this regulator which puts out a good 12.6-12 .8 V, which I then connect to a 12 B car fan for heat dissipation. my business when it's sunny outside. When the clouds cover the solar panel, this device outputs what it can get from the solar panel. I checked the 4.4V output voltage from the panel and regulator and it was enough to keep my fan running. The regulator will not trip if it falls below the set input and output voltage, so you may need to worry if your application requires an adjusted voltage. In the photo you can see how the controller shares the solar input with the charge controller. I chose this controller so that I can run the fan from solar without batteries connected.
