Review on Dyson AM10 Humidifier: Efficient White/Silver Moisture Control by Brent Doolan

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Great remote control fan plus humidifier (while working)

This is our third humidifier, all is good and each one is better than the last. We started with the PureGuardian H920BL 10-Hour Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier, a desktop humidifier that we liked for its tiny size for storing when not in use and its "Silver Clean" feature to prevent mold from forming in the tank. We then moved on to the slightly more expensive Honeywell HUL535W Cool Mist Humidifier in White, which we liked even more because of the larger tank and no power adapter to lose. This humidifier is another big step forward in both value and features. The first innovation is ultraviolet light, which kills all bacteria in the aquarium before they are released into the air as a mist. This is an upscale option for whole house heating/air conditioning and is very welcome. In addition, this Dyson can be used either as a humidifier with a fan or simply as a fan. Since we live in an almost desert-like area, increased humidity is welcome even in summer, and the perceived cooling performance of the fan is increased by around ten degrees in summer. Precisely set the desired humidity between 30 and 70% and one of 10 fan speeds, from almost inaudible to very strong, yet quieter than most room fans. There is a timer that automatically turns off anytime up to 9 hours, as well as an automatic setting that selects the best humidity level based on the room temperature. It's not mentioned in the instructions, but what's really nice is that the remote easily attaches to the top of the device with a hidden magnet. If needed, a screw provides access to the 2032 battery that powers the remote for easy replacement. The industrial design is excellent, on par with anything from Apple. There is a large but stylish power supply rated at 1.5 amps at 120 volts (180 watts), but the maximum I could get the unit to draw even at full speed with the humidifier on was 47 watts, and 4 watts is all you need. to run the fan at low speed without adding moisture. The only downside is that it's a bit difficult to set up and clean. To add water, turn the transparent part over to see the lid indicated in the instructions. For cleaning, it is recommended to use one ounce of citric acid in one quart of water to wipe everything down weekly, with a more thorough cleaning monthly or when in storage. I suspect it would be good for our other humidifiers too, although we've never done it, so I might just wait with this one to see how long it takes before it clearly NEEDS a clean. Overall, this is the best moisturizer I've ever used. has ever been used and now has a permanent home next to the computer in the bedroom on which I am writing this review. Call the hotline) and water will start leaking from the unit. The hotline was happy to approve and pay for the return of the UPS for repair on 12/18/2015. To date I have not received it back.
