Works great even when added to a fan that didn't originally come with a remote control

I've read a lot of reviews and the ability to work for a "clean install" didn't appeal to me clear. I also saw the caution of the sellers in their product description. So I contacted them directly. For goodness sake, it's just a switch that works from the remote. Why won't it work? Well they replied that they would and that their statement on new installs was a bit discreet to avoid product returns. All that said, if the canopy tray where your fan touches the ceiling can accommodate a receiver then installation is easy and it works. The black and white wires connect to the receiver's black and white wires. The three wires coming out of the receiver connect to the black, white, and blue fan wires. Black and white is the fan motor, blue is the light. (Sometimes black is red for some settings.) And the bare wire from your ceiling is connected to the green wire, which is grounded to the metal canopy. (The green wire is not connected to the receiver in any way.) Just make sure you don't leave the dip switches all the way on (like most people do) and make sure the dip switch pattern in the receiver matches matches that of the remote control. I just flipped DIP switch 3 down on both the remote and receiver. You need a 9V battery for the remote control. When everything is connected, the thing just works. And the fan has three speeds. And if you hold down the "Light" button (it's green), the light will dim and then brighten. So there you have it: remote control of your dimming fan. I don't understand why this isn't compatible with every fan as it's really just a switch that sits between the power supply and the fan/light. But I'm not an expert on all the fans in the world, so there might be a reason I don't know. But I would say this should work for your ordinary standard ceiling fan. 53T-28R purchased. Hope that helps.
