Review on Ergotron HX Single Ultrawide Monitor Arm - VESA Desk Mount for Monitors Up to 49 Inches, 20 to 42 lbs - Polished Aluminum: Enhanced Comfort and Space Optimization by Cory Mosley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Update: hold on.

UPDATED REVIEW: I bought the Ergotron HX 6 months ago and found the tipper didn't have enough lift to hold the monitor. I submitted a ticket to their support team and after a few months they helped me get a new tilter. That works great! The new tilting mechanism is strong enough for my particularly heavy monitor. They also fixed an issue where the instructions didn't say how to tighten a specific screw to increase/decrease tilt force. So thank you. I am very impressed with the support from Ergotron here. They kept contacting me about my problem. Right now I'm definitely an Ergotron fan. I will say that the criticism of the editing process in my original review is STILL TRUE. This is an area that Ergotron needs to work on. Either way, if you're looking for a great, sturdy monitor mount, look no further! I will keep the old review here for posterity. Not holding The HX doesn't have enough tilt travel to hold my Odyssey G9 monitor which is 14kg and fully compatible. It basically sticks down at a 5 degree angle when I'm not propping it up. Other issues: - The instructions don't tell you which direction to turn the included T-wrench to increase or decrease the tilt lift power! Unbelievable. (It's noted on every other setting in the manual except this one.) You'll either have to search external resources to find out, or just experiment (perhaps to no avail, like me!) - this was the most painful edit of my life. As with other mounting systems, you mount the adapter on the back of the monitor, and then mount the adapter and monitor on the stand. Typically, the adapter port is ergonomically designed for ease of installation. But not this one. The target connector on the stand is very small and difficult to install. Also, you must either hold the monitor at a 70 degree angle or press down on the spring mechanism to hold it during installation. This requires many hands and is difficult to do alone, especially with a 14kg monitor. Took me two hours to assemble and install the monitor, after that it doesn't even hold the monitor. I opened a chat with support which to their credit they responded immediately. However, they could not immediately commit to sending me a new replacement adapter (marked "A1" in the instructions). They said they would speak to their tech team and email me back. If they send me a good replacement I can change my rating. Otherwise I'll send everything back to Amazon and try again with a different mount.
