I LOVE that I can tie my hair in a ponytail and pull it off the back of my neck if I want. It looked didn't look weird when my hair got stuck in the hole. There's adjustment at the back of the hole so it reminded me of a baseball cap. Never mind. This hat was perfect for hiking the dry, hot wastelands and windy prairies of the South Dakota. In strong gusts of wind I found the strap very necessary and the wide brim protects my face from the hot sun. I also liked that I could change the style by snapping the brim either on one side or both sides, creating a cute cowboy hat look. The hats had hard creases in the brim. This was easily solved. I soaked the hat in warm water for 5 minutes. Then, to reshape the edges, I folded e s back along the crease, then smooth it out and lay it in the sun to dry. Wrinkle spray Woolite or another brand also worked great after soaking while still damp (a hat was more resistant). I liked the hats! I bought 3. Blue and grey, plain gray and pink and grey. I think I got the best out of plain gray through camping. it looked better with more of my clothes. But I got the most compliments for blue and gray. The pink/grey was a present for my daughter. She also loved it for the beach, gardening etc. It washes well.
