There are very clear instructions on how to do the embroidery stitches and how to finish the painting. The thread is made of soft cotton and is clearly marked with both the pattern number and the DMC number. There are two high quality needles for sewing. The pattern will be printed very clearly and cleanly on the canvas you are embroidering on and the edges of the canvas are hemmed to prevent fraying while you work on the design. It's a nice gesture that doesn't always happen. A full color chart is included so you can look up the fine details and finish the canvas if it accidentally gets wet and washes off part of the image. There are instructions on how to wash the canvas and wash off the ink AFTER you have finished your embroidery. The picture itself is not very large - only 80x100 stitches, so the set is suitable for beginners. You get a beautiful picture without having to resort to huge screen formats. Happy sewing.
