The best option for cheap 1X nvg

Pretty cool for the money. Obviously this isn't a high end 3rd or 4th gen NVG so it's not fair to compare it to that. 1x zoom night vision kits are now available. So if you need 1x nvg without dropping 1k to 15k, this is your best bet right now. While this is a 1x zoom and technically you CAN walk around with it, I wouldn't recommend doing it much unless you have to. The screen is small and can be very confusing. Better than nothing but not suitable for hiking. The IR emitter built into the kit does not have a wavelength of 940 nm, which means that the light is visible to the naked eye. It doesn't matter to me as I bought a separate 940nm light source instead. Just leave the device in IRO mode so the built-in indicators don't light up. If visibility of the IR lights is not an issue for you, they will work just fine. The device is quite small and light, so there is no problem with the weight on the head when carrying it. Overall I would recommend to anyone who wants an affordable 1X nvg but understands you are buying a sub $200 device NOT $3000 3rd gen.
