I have natural hair and want to practice braiding so I bought this mannequin for that purpose. I chose this mannequin because his hair looked more like "real" Afro hair than some of the other mannequins on Revain. There was another mannequin I wanted to buy but she had a weird face and Chiya (yes I called her that haha) was beautiful so I bought this one. I'd say the hair isn't as thick and "big" as in the picture, but it's no big deal. One thing I noticed was that there was a white powdery substance near the scalp. So I took it to the sink and washed it with conditioner and shampoo and a lot of brownish water came out. I don't know, was it hair color or powder? I would advise you to wash it before use because who knows what kind of powder it is. Also, it has faded a bit with washing, so be careful. I was able to brush it out and apply the product to it as if it were my own hair. With the product the hair looks like a loose curl but I'm sure it can become an afro if you don't apply the product and dry it. I've practiced a few corn rows and there is an even distribution of hair on the scalp so you can practice parting. In addition, the head is the size of a human head, making it an accurate training tool. I didn't use heat or chemicals for this, but it's human hair (I even found some gray hair lol) so that should work. It comes with a handle. I think it's like a kickstand but I'm not a pro so I didn't use it. In general I recommend. (see photo of hair before washing and after washing with a small amount of indelible hair)
