Very Happy Rider is good for sport

I was really hoping that these wheels (38mm deep) would be as amazing as many other reviewers have said and I'm happy to say they are truly amazing. I'll never be in a wind tunnel for objective specs, but my first few rides have been consistently quicker - like a 6-8% speed increase, the final ride from 17.3 to 18.6 mph - on the same hilly 10 -Mile terrain compared to riding with the Original Equipment 25mm V-shaped beautifully aerodynamic aluminum wheels. Setup and installation went smoothly and was a learning experience for me. Took my time with new tubes and tires, no pinches, no worries. I squeezed and nudged the pre-installed red rim tape a bit to make sure it was centered, but mostly because I have mild OCD, not because anything was seriously wrong. Valves 60mm just right. Went with a new Shimano 10 speed cassette; The spacer that came with the rear wheel was not needed. Also: learned that it's very bad when someone tries to change with a freshly installed cassette that's a bit loose and rattles but fixable. Use the brake pads that came with the wheels. They have a nice feel, if a little squeaky, which can be true for CF wheels in general. The pads did NOT easily fit into their mounts. Not sure if it's the design, or if the pad grooves are poorly cut, or my admittedly cheap pad holders are too narrow, but I installed them and everything seems fine. No issues with the skewers, all spokes are tight and straight and the wheels feel well balanced and spin properly. Conclusion: They seem to be really good bikes and I'm very happy with them. A friend with a lot of cycling experience told me not to worry (when buying these wheels) that if I didn't buy expensive branded CF wheels it wouldn't matter and I was wasting my money. I'm happy to report that he was wrong on both counts.
