Bought this as a gift for my adult daughter and (as always) tried it before giving it as a gift. It took about two hours to fully melt the first candle, less than the second. Observe the difference in glass thickness at the bottom of the candle. It makes sense that thicker glass will take longer to heat up. It seems that happened. The glass in the first was much thicker than in the second. This, as they say, heated the candle. It can also withstand a cup of coffee at above room temperature for several hours. My favorite feature is probably the automatic shutdown. The heater turns off when hit. It also turns off when the cup is removed. Two good security features. I feel like I can give it to my daughter without any worries and I'm sure she will love it.
