Don't risk it.
While on vacation 1,000 miles from home today I noticed that one of the U-bolts had broken. I lost almost all three bikes. I had to reorganize half my RV and stuff in the back of my truck, taking apart the bikes and making them fit under my covers like I was playing Tetris. Poor quality U-bolts appear to be used. Don't risk it.
