Fits the bill if you want a warmer windbreaker

Overall I'm happy with this lightweight jacket. I wanted an unlined windbreaker (to replace an old, aging one) but after much searching I still can't find it. The closest I got was ordinary raincoats, which tend to be heavy, wrinkled, and have tight hoods. All I wanted was a really soft, lightweight nylon windbreaker for those days when the air temp is pretty chilly (but not very cold) with strong winds. My cairn terrier has a pretty decent coat and doesn't need much protection. I think we humans tend to dress our dogs in cold weather. The colder the weather, the more she prefers to go for walks in the fresh air. In any case, this coat has a fleece lining. Based on the description, I was hoping for a very light fleece layer, but it's more "medium" thick. The outer nylon layer is fairly soft and pliable, and also strong enough to withstand a lot of snagging and tearing. Detachable hood is good. I don't use it in normal dry conditions (my dog gets too hot and will likely find it uncomfortable), but I will carry it in my backpack or bag if there's a threat or raining. The bottom longitudinal velcro system works well and everything on the jacket fits my dog well. My only real fault, aside from the fleece being a little firmer than I was hoping, is that it feels a bit short; unhooded, most of her neck is exposed (no big deal, her fur is very thick here) and she is very shy about her hindquarters. If I had a big one, the leg holes would be too big and long and she would trip over them. As always, "length" seems to be the usual joker when buying dog clothes. In general you get a nice coat. I'll keep an eye out for an unlined windbreaker though. If anyone knows one, please let us know. My old Land's End windbreaker is no longer available. UPDATE 3-11-13: I've been using this windbreaker for a while now as the fall weather has been quite cool and windy here in Wisconsin. I LOVE this jacket. I leave the velcro on the bottom in place and just slip her head through like a sweater. Her paws will NEVER slip out of her leg holes despite being quite a fierce and energetic walker. The leash hole is a decent size and allows you to attach the leash to a harness (not a collar). The material holds up well; No problem. I'll definitely get more when the time comes.
