I bought them mainly because they don't rust. Since I don't need them every day, a regular washcloth with soap on the inside tends to rust and tear after a few uses. However, they are huge. I took one and cut it in half with kitchen scissors to make it more comparable in size to other popular "Brillo" or "SOS" brands. This meant that box of 12 pods became 24 pods which I will use forever. After the first use I found that they are better than other brands. Just add some washing-up liquid to the cleaning effect and you get the same effect as with other sponges. These are continuous soft metal coils so as with any pad, the coils on these pads will snag on rough spots like metal solder points or screws on pots, but they've lasted a very long time just cleaning pots and pans.
