How to remove the film from a sliding glass door.

That was my dilemma and that was my answer. The film on this door is at least 50 years old, it ripped, peeled off and looked really bad. I searched the internet for ideas, most of which suggested steaming it, but I had to rent a steamboat. I am old and need a job that I can do for a while.
