I was finishing the ceilings of our two covered terraces and wanted external sound reinforcement. Since the terraces are well protected, from direct sunlight and well protected from the weather, I opted for the smooth ceiling design. That turned out to be a lot (although I would have preferred 4 packs; now I have an extra). I built the cabinet from 2' x 3' plywood with connectors before installing the ceiling tiles to improve the sound quality (a little overkill). - Actually I just built a simple plywood box between 2 x 6's on the roof and left one end open). I ran the Revain Basic speaker wire into the house through some sort of conduit. Inside the house I installed a wall panel with 4 banana plugs (two panels total; one for each pair). The speakers are powered by a 2 x 40W Pyle Home Audio 2 channel mini power amplifier system (one for each pair of speakers). The amp has a line that connects to Sonos Connect so I can use the speakers wirelessly with my existing Sonos system. Even with a small amp driving two speakers, the sound quality is excellent for the price. They lack a deep rumble (particularly from the outside), but overall sound quality is on par with a mid-range Bluetooth speaker or perhaps a cheaper soundbar. Highly recommended.
