I liked how the camo extends down onto the rubberized portion of the sole, and the lace hooks make them go on a lot easier and faster. The tongue gusset extends up to within about an inch and a half of the top of the boot.Putting them on was easier due to the finger cutouts on the sides. They also came with optional padded insoles. I tried them both with and without the insoles and they were comfortable either way, but if you are wearing super thick insulated socks you might choose to remove them to make more room. The tread patterns is aggressive, and the soles are pretty think. You feel about an inch taller wearing them. This will definitely get you up off the wet grass and leaves. I had hoped for some snow to test out their waterproof ability but although it was very cold (22 degrees F) we didn't get any snow. If it snows soon I'll update the review, but judging by the texture and feel of the fabric upper, it appears as though it is sealed with some kind of rubber or silicone treatment to make it waterproof. It is definitely more rigid and thicker feeling than typical woven nylon fabric.Apparently these are made using 3M Thinsulate insulation so it isn't surprising they were warm using regular crew socks in 22 degree weather.Fit was as expected, possibly even very slightly big, which is good for thick winter socks. I think you'd be safe ordering your size.I would expect to pay twice as much or more for name brand hunting boots with similar build quality and features. If they hold up in the snow I think they will be a great set of boots. Pheasant season is just around the corner.
