Review on πŸ’» Renewed Samsung Galaxy S9 in Titanium Gray, 64GB for AT&T by Somsak Boonsri ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A normal product, but they wanted more for the money.

In general, the phone is well-assembled and pleasant to the touch, and stuffed with high-quality hardware (except for a rather weak battery). But the pre-installed software "from the manufacturer" on it significantly spoils the impression. For example, to simply delete 1 message, you need to poke the screen several times (at least three) in different places until the message is deleted. Another example is when I am in international roaming, I install a second, local SIM card in my phone, through which I connect to the Internet. But as soon as the phone reconnects to any Wi-Fi, the message "You have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off" starts to appear on the phone, which cannot be turned off, gets out every few minutes and, characteristically, absolutely meaningless. And a bunch of other such annoying moments in a variety of pre-installed software, which I did not expect from a "premium" class device. In a word, as I understand it, this manufacturer, alas, is not strong in writing custom software. Summing up: for hardware it would be "five", but for the battery and the Bixby button, the ball is down, and for the firmware - "two", in total - three points. In other words, you can use it, but if you had known about all these shortcomings in advance, then most likely you would not have bought this model. . With one of the ates, they fixed the problem with the constantly popping up message "You have lost data connectivity .", which is good. However, it turned out that the fingerprint scanner is not so great - it periodically stops recognizing any of the registered prints, and with the onset of winter, the situation only worsened. In addition, I wonder why they stuck a heart rate monitor into the phone? There is practically no sense from it: it is extremely inconvenient to use it, just indulge and forget. It would be better to put a larger battery. But I really like the wireless charging function - with a branded charger it charges almost as fast as a wired one.

Pros
  • Well, a well-made phone case - there are no complaints here: it fits comfortably in the hand, not a "shovel", but due to the lack of frames, the screen size is quite decent. The screen itself is high-class, bright, with a resolution, perhaps even more than necessary. Pretty conveniently located fingerprint scanner, the scanner is fast and accurate. The sound is loud and clear. There are no complaints about the camera either - it corresponds to the level of the device. : the screen glass is also excellent - not a scratch after 3 months of carrying it in a jeans pocket.
Cons
  • The battery leaves much to be desired - if you read a lot from the screen (not video, not games, but just read), then it may not last until the end of the day. Also frustrating is this separate Bixby button, which can only do one thing - show the Bixby panel, which is pretty goofy in itself, and even the button is located so that you constantly accidentally press it. And most of all, this, to put it mildly, poorly thought out pre-installed (and, at the same time, non-removable software) "from the manufacturer" upsets, which is imposed by the manufacturer with all his might, although in terms of functionality and configurability, on average, it is much inferior to similar software on devices of well-known Chinese comrades.
