Good, not so good for portable Bluetooth speakers

. Updated after a month of use. I like this device more than originally. While not as powerful as some of its competitors, it shines in several categories. This device works really great in small spaces. It's really good when it's in the corner. Its 360-degree sound profile uses walls to reflect and project sound, using corner walls as pseudo-enclosures for the speakers. With this use, the sound is much fuller. Portability is also key. Platform size and form factor matter a lot. The "killer feature" is the pen. I know it sounds silly, but it's really very useful. The lithium-ion battery is also a monster. Took it to the beach, took it on the boat and back to the BBQ and only used 25% of the battery after a full day of activity. The Bose Connect app is what everyone else should be striving for. No tricky features. Launch it, connect to your paired device, then stream any audio you want from any app. The device supports multiple people connecting via Bose Connect at the same time, so you no longer have to "wait for unpairing" for one friend to play the next. Song. I also found it to be a great laptop/desktop audio pairing option. Much better sound quality than standard speakers, Bluetooth wireless freedom. Our old 27" iMac is in the guest room and we've put it together into a simple AV system that works well when guests arrive. I also sometimes use this device when I play golf. When I tested it on the beach, the sound quality was average to good, and the volume was enough that we kept turning it off so as not to offend nearby people. The previous verification points (below) still apply. I would probably give one star if it was cheaper. $300 + tax is a lot for a device of this size. I leave one. I've decided to keep the device, but mostly only because I can afford it. Bought this product based on the many positive reviews. Bose clearly followed Apple's design book. Very well designed. The stylus is a simple but ingenious feature. The device is much smaller than shown in the photos. Quality packaging and easy installation make it easy to use. Requires the Bose Connect app from the App Store. The device is primarily intended to be paired with a mobile device or tablet. Skip the Bose selection (like we need another account and more email kthx). Here's the catch: while this is an interesting Bluetooth device, it's a VERY expensive device. In comparison, I paid about $50 more for the HEOS 5, which beats it in sound quality. While HEOS isn't portable, the bar is set quite high. Overall, the sound quality is okay, but not outstanding. Lots of mids and highs. Bass is present but not very pronounced. "Acceptable" but not great. The overall volume is good, but not sensational. They won't be throwing keggers or raves. I suspect a small to medium sized group of people wouldn't enjoy this very much if they were too talkative to have fun. I think it would be nice to relax on deck. I doubt this device is very good for outdoor use. It just doesn't have enough power to produce enough volume and I suspect the sound quality will be a lot worse too. This is definitely not a replacement for a home stereo. Overall 3 stars. OK, not great. If it cost 150€ it would get another star. For the money invested, you should be able to get some $&@ gear. This device is ok but very overpriced. You're paying for the Bose name and a big lithium battery. My daughter's Bose Soundlink Color delivers almost the same performance and better bass for 1/3 the price. I don't think I can justify keeping this device for the money it's worth. much better volume limited - easy to limit No tone shaping controls

Pros
  • Longer battery life - up to 17 hours with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery - you get more playback time than the original SoundLink Revolve speaker. Recharging is easy via the micro-B USB connector
Cons
  • , fading
