In my opinion the dress does run small, but by one size, two if you're not a fan of form fitting dresses. I purchased a large where I would typically get medium or dress size 8 and it fit fine. It is a bit shorter than I would like and the material is on the thin side, but the length isn't inappropriate nor is the material like that of a sheet. I took off a star because of the inaccurate sizing, and because of the material and length. However the design is beautiful and the colors bright, so I went back and purchased a second color.
