Review on 🐟 EHEIM TWIN Automatic Feeder with Battery Operation by Brenda Willoughby

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Four time Eheim user

I have purchased four Eheim double feeders over the years. As you would expect from German engineers, the device is built with integrity and reliability. The instruction manual consists of 61 pages (see picture) and is illustrated with black and white photos in several languages. Imagine you are back in college and making notes about this professor who started school at the age of five and never left. It's not an easy-to-use feeder, despite Eheim's considerable effort to break things down logically (I felt like I was reading my Mercedez Benz owner's manual!). The unit offers many options for different food types, times and cycles, including "random" feeding times. Follow the instructions carefully step by step and try to remember the system behind the programming. Assembling the device requires multiple steps and careful attention to how the parts fit together. Don't rush this process. I found the list of multiple languages a bit boring as you need to move on to the next step while maintaining your place in the programming scheme. Once programmed, you can expect flawless performance when this delicate device is securely mounted on your platform. Tiny Velcro straps for tiny rubber feet are more of a gentle banter than a security system. CAUTION: If you change the type of food, the number of fish, or change the environment in your aquarium in any way that will inevitably require a change in the way you feed your fish, you will need to re-verify the correct number of feeding cycles is sufficient. . This requires an adjustment of the feed unit. As for me, I need to go back to the instructions for use to make sure I understand the multi-step process. To do this, the 61-page brochure has to be leafed through again and again. ALSO: If this device comes into contact with any type of moisture (safe possibility since this device is designed for aquariums), BEWARE! Twice my housekeeper - that's right, TWICE - threw an expensive device into the tank. One day the Eheim device fell like a rock to the bottom of my 55 gallon tank. The tank was full of food flakes! Another time, in front of my housekeeper, the device barely touched the surface, amidst screams "No again!” I dug an expensive device out of the tank. In both cases, the device was completely destroyed and did not function, like some bizarre creature from a sci-fi movie, grinding out clumps of food in a constant grind, opening and closing the lid, and finally clinking to death. I had to buy a new one. Yesterday my fourth home was splashed with a few drops of water when I moved the algae scraper in the pool. The device started humming and howling and continuously pushing fish food out of both cylinders at an alarming rate, causing food to flow like rain into my aquarium. EHEIM SUPPORT: I emailed support and asked if there was a way to get this beautiful device ready for aquatic life with more confidence that it wouldn't react like a delicate robot (remember that the witch melted out of one in The Wizard of Oz). Waterdrop!). Eheim support was warm and professional and sent me a replacement even though I didn't ask for it. Thank you Eiheim! Yes, I will buy this machine again. Several times I have left the country for several weeks in a row. This Eheim Feeder worked as it should. The fish was fat and happy.
