Don't waste your money on expensive things. I just press the button for 1/2 second to get the dog's attention when he barks and he immediately stops and lies down. I can't hear the high frequency sound and want to be absolutely sure it won't damage my dog's ears. Apart from that it works. I haven't tried the other two settings, which according to the instructions could have been louder, but I only want the quietest setting. If I'm taking him for a walk and an aggressive dog is chasing him, I'll try a stronger attitude. At the moment it works great.
