Review on Sceptre U278W 4000R 4K DisplayPort Monitor with Built-In Speakers and IPS Technology by Joseph Neuberger

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sets a very high bar for 4K monitors with very good color and resolution at a great price.

Like many reviewers here, I wasn't expecting too much, just a decent 4K monitor at a very good price. However, I bought two to use with my new main office desktop build. Complaints about the lack of adjustment with the included stands are valid, but in my case I was planning on using a dual monitor arm. Works great with standard VESA mount 100x1000. I didn't need to tweak much to get an accurate color palette for my .raw imaging tasks. For easier-to-read text, Windows 10 suggested setting the screen magnification to 150%, but I ran at 125% for two weeks with no issues when using this setting (see image). I've only been using them for two weeks, and we haven't seen any dead pixels, color bands, jagged edges, or other artifacts commonly found on budget monitors. But it's only been two weeks. I was able to go from 50fps to 58fps by playing a few not-too-demanding FPS games. Since my new desktop computer with EVGA 2080 TI XC Ultra 11GB graphics card hasn't arrived yet, I used my laptop, an HP Omen Gaming Laptop with 1070 GTX 6GB Video and 4K G-Sync Display. It currently controls all three monitors. If it were possible I would give this monitor a 4.5; the only discount for terrible speakers. I don't use sound in monitors, but I tested it for completeness. The speaker just doesn't sound very good. I've noticed this with Specter TVs as well. I use a soundbar so this wasn't a problem for me. The ability to put up two 4K monitors at around the same price as is typically associated with a single mid-range 4K monitor certainly makes it a worthwhile choice.
