Review on Fluval 88G CO2 Bubble Counter Ounces by Nicole Soto

Works perfectly! The mount design could be better.

Works great, very simple design and bubbles are visible. It's losing a star because the way it attaches to the tank isn't great. You have the option of using the included suction cup or the small clip to hold the bladder to the reservoir. The problem is how the clip and suction cup are attached to the bubble counter. If you use a suction cup, nothing will hold the suction cup to the bubble counter except for light friction. Most designs I've seen put the suction cup in a hole that ends up being too small for a nipple, but after pushing the nipple into a larger cavity this design works great. The Fluval bubble counter, on the other hand, has a small notch. Not a cavity that's bigger inside, but a straight slit that's just slightly smaller than the suction cup. So when you press on the suction cup, it doesn't "snap" in place or anything, it just sits there due to friction. It will easily fail over time for even very minor violations. However, I'm sure it will work great in the short term or in an installation where it won't be disturbed. The clip has the same problem. The clip itself simply slides into the groove and is seated there by friction. There's no little "click" or anything, so with a little effort, the bubble counter will pop off instantly, leaving the clip behind. Another issue I have with the clip itself is that it is only half an inch wide so will not fit on the rim of a standard tank. I assume this is for rimless tanks. Again, for a short time or for installation where no one bothers him, I'm sure this will work great. Nut tightening works well. They hold the phone very securely. I have used this with a CO2 protected AQUATEK snorkel and have not had any leaks or issues. If you have a similar tube, I would recommend boiling a mug of water in the microwave and then holding the end (about the last inch) of the tube in the water for about 30 seconds. The hose becomes very flexible and can be tightened very easily. Depending on the handset, this may not be required (or recommended).
