Solid product not identical to photo

This mount is a solid product that allows me to use a variety of softboxes with my battery powered flashes for stobistic lighting while running and shooting. I've tested it with Canon 550EX and 420EX flashes - both fit well (as do all standard shoe flashes). The speed ring has 8 holes at a standard 45 degree spacing with standard 1/4" holes for softbox mounts. My softboxes are the Fomex SB-60X90 24" x 36" models which use 4 arms set at 90 Degree to be mounted which works great with this ring This is my first time using softboxes with small battery powered flashes as I have always used them with the larger Alien Bee B400 and B800 studio flashes Item arrived quickly via US Mail and was well packaged did not give this product 5 stars for the following reasons: (1) Photos of this product show that it comes with adapters to mount on a standard 5/8" light stand, as well as 1/4" and 3/4 -Inch thread includes 8" (e.g. 1/4" - 20" thread on a tripod). This is not the case. The product can only be mounted on a 5/8" light stand as thread adapters are not included. Since I usually use standard stands with supports and I have some of these adapters, it's not a big deal for me. The buyer should consider however, be aware.(2) The photos of this product show that it has a one-sided serrated angle adjustment on the bottom for attaching to the light stand.Based on the product photos, I was expecting a mount like this: Calumet Hot Shoe Mount Umbrella Adapter (which I call the standard Strobist umbrella mount adapters call it.) These struts can only pivot forward and out the way azad and have ratchet teeth to adjust the angle - very strong Instead the product actually comes with a ball head mount as shown here: Interfit STR127 Strobies Foldable Softbox (24" x 24"). A ball head will fit, but it's not what I would have preferred e and not what I ordered. I bought this product because the single sided mounts are significantly stronger than a small ball head, especially since my softboxes are large 24" x 36" blocks that put a lot of torque on this connection when used outdoors in the wind. Time will tell if I regret keeping it rather than returning it to Fotodiox. (3) Due to the mounting position of the ball head, the angle of the soft box can only be adjusted 15 degrees downward (toward the object above), because the ball head body will collide with the up-down sliding guide. This isn't the ultimate deal killer, as the collision actually adds some stiffness to the ball mount by adding an extra pivot point. Also, I can trim the up and down slide guide with a hacksaw to eliminate this collision. Again, not a big deal, but certainly not perfect and certainly not what is shown in the product photo. The buyer must be aware of this. (4) When rotated back with the flash's IR sensor pointing away from the softbox/subject (for Stobic-style E-TTL IR shooting), the hot shoe mount adjustment knob will collide with the ball head mount, causing the Flash doesn't really do it in the softbox, but barely flush with the back of the softbox. Again, it's not a big deal and probably won't affect flash performance, but I'd rather have actually built the flash into the softbox, about 1/2 inch, to minimize light loss on the sides. forward (normal) so that the flash's IR sensor is pointed at the softbox/subject (for wired or RF-triggered shots), the flash actually protrudes into the softbox as desired. less problems.
