Review on Neewer Portable Compact Desktop Macro Mini Tripod: 20 inches/50 Centimeters, 360 Degree Ball Head, Quick Shoe Plate, DSLR Camera/Video Camcorder, Red by Marc Gallner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best mini tripod.

I have had a Slik mini and a Bestshoot Desktop min. I have owned the Slik the longest but it seems to be the cheapest of them all. It also has no ball head and the adjustment lever protrudes unnecessarily for my purpose. Although this is the cheapest feeling, if not abused it will last a long time. I've had mine for over 5 years now and it still works perfectly. The maximum height on the slick is 9 inches. The minimum size is probably around 7. Next is Bestshoot. It's heavier and much stronger. Also, the legs aren't as elongated at the highest point (taking up as much desk space) as on the Slik. This is a big plus. He's an inch taller. Unfortunately, unlike the Slik and Neewer, there is no way to extend the center up and down. So if you want to go higher or lower, this can only be adjusted by spreading the legs of the tripod. Finally there is Neewer. I'm in love with the height variability. Goes from ok. from 10 inches to 21 inches. It features a ball head and center post height adjustment. The legs at the shortest height are the least prominent of the 3, but they feel very sturdy. This Neewer really has everything I'm looking for. I mainly use it to mount a DSLR behind my laptop when doing video conferences. I prefer DSLRs to webcams for this purpose. The minimum height (10 inches) is perfect for me, to open the lid of my laptop and mount the camera directly behind my computer. Where the lid covers my SLR is not that small. That's right. The only downside is that the legs can get pretty tight when stretching. The action isn't that smooth either, sometimes you have to move your foot for it to hit the caterpillar and then stretch properly. I also take mini tripods with me when I travel, mostly for hotel use. Twenty-one inches really isn't enough to get on the floor and take a solo, couple, or group shot, so I don't take it out too much. I mainly use it in the hotel and put it on a dresser or bedside table. If you photograph landscapes in the field, this maximum height may be suitable for you. All in all I'm sure if you are looking for the best mini tripod (within this height range) then this is it. I have it in red and it looks very sharp. Whatever color you get, I highly recommend this tripod. By the way, this is the very first order Revain has lost during delivery. The product was delivered and gave Revain a real headache,
