Review on Gigabit Wireless AP RB951G-2HND πŸ’» Mikrotik with 1000mW Power and 5 Ports by DoanQuynh Chi ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Satisfied with the purchase one hundred percent, I recommend the product for everyone.

I bought a router from my hands for ridiculous money due to the lack of a native power supply. By the way, it’s not clear to me why it was necessary to make the router work from a 24-volt 0.8 A power supply. Not every 12-volt power supply can be used as an alternative - those that are weaker do not pull: the router reboots cyclically. But I used a power supply from a laptop - it works stably with it. Here some write about unstable and falling off WIFI - I don’t know, I have a laptop connected via WIFI, which does not turn off at all for weeks. It works stably, does not fall off, the speed does not jump. There are no problems with other devices either. At the same time, I would not say that I was especially playing with the settings. In general - a pleasant, solid machine, for which you don't have to worry - sudden death is not peculiar to it.

Pros
  • I would say it's just a standard router. 1. Miniature. Minimalist box design. Housing made of durable plastic. 2. No super-bright indication LEDs and glossy surfaces, no antennas sticking out in all directions. 3. The reliability and wide functionality that has already become legendary for the devices of this manufacturer. This is written here in almost every review . well, I will not be an exception. My router works for MONTHS without interruption - no freezes, overheating, network failures, etc. not detected. Dozens of terabytes of traffic digests without problems. You can customize almost everything that is enough for imagination. 4. Pretty acceptable device performance, which is enough for me (home use). gigabit ports. Quite a powerful WIFI transmitter, despite the fact that there are no external antennas. There is a USB port through which you can share a flash drive or external hard drive. 5. What else do you need from a router? I do not even know. Oh yes, firmware ates are constantly being released, although for most users this is superfluous.
Cons
  • 1. I don’t know if this is a drawback or not, but you should be prepared for the fact that the device is not configured for home use out of the box. You will have to configure a DHCP server, manually assign WAN and LAN ports, UPnP too. There is no such thing that, like any ordinary D-Link and TP-Link, "connected, password-protected WIFI and forgot." We'll have to be patient and "smoke manuals." But after proper configuration, everything will work flawlessly. 2. Port LEDs are not disabled or configured. And for some reason, this can only be done on this model, on the RB951Ui-2HnD. Well, God bless them, you can stick it with tape if that. 3. The 8022022n (300 Mbps) standard, in my humble opinion, is no longer relevant. When more than 3 users are connected via WIFI, it becomes "cramped", for the Internet, and even more so for the local network, it is rather slow. The world is already moving to faster WIFI standards - 8022022ac and so on.
