I wasn't able to find any information on how well it handled multiple drivers with different phones in the same car before purchasing, all of which work with CarPlay in this car. I'm happy to report that this made it possible to set up multiple phones. I have two connected but I suspect more are supported. Obviously it connects to whoever is in range when the car is started. And if several connected phones are in range, the last connected phone will probably be selected first. When it connects to the wrong phone, I've found it's easy to switch connections by going to the Bluetooth connection page on the disconnected phone and pairing to it from that phone. This will end the previous connection and switch to the new phone. The adapter also features an accessible USB port, so you can still connect your iPhone to the adapter, which allows you to connect to CarPlay via USB as before. This is useful when the friend is in the car and wants to use their phone but doesn't want to wirelessly connect it to your system. Note that Bluetooth is only used to initiate a basic Wi-Fi connection, which is ultimately used for CarPlay. However, they never communicate directly with Wi-Fi - this is done behind the scenes. The setup is based on Bluetooth. However, remember that your phone will have a Wi-Fi connection to the adapter when connected, and your phone's Wi-Fi will not be available for tethering or any other mode of operation while CarPlay is active. Likewise, when you return home, your phone will not connect to your home Wi-Fi network until the CarPlay connection is terminated. However, this has nothing to do with this adapter; How wireless CarPlay works. In terms of performance, I think the device is really good. The wireless connection is very fast (seconds). Probably faster than I had to find and connect the cable before. And once plugged in, I didn't notice any difference in performance versus a wired connection. The graphics update at full speed and the sound sounds the same to me. I highly recommend this particular model. It seems well thought out with decent hardware and software.
