They were thick and would have warmed our daughter but unlike most pants which have a seam down the middle there is a large central piece of fabric so there were two seams, one from each side of the perineum. This center stripe ran from the front waist to the back waist, making them lighter compared to pants. If worn with a t-shirt it would look ridiculous. Worn with a longer mid-rise shirt or dress over it would be great, but for separate winter pants, this isn't the best option. None of the pictures show that odd center band instead of the single center seam found on most pants. Returned for style, not quality or thickness.
