I bought this mattress topper for a small dog who is known to have had a few accidents. on our mattress. Just a few minutes after putting on this duvet, fresh sheets, so cute, there was an accident. I couldn't believe it! He seemed to know. I was so angry. But. Needless to say, the mattress cover did the trick. It's waterproof. "Liquid" did not get on the mattress. It was absorbed fairly quickly by the first layer, but didn't reach the mattress. Let me tell you I hate moving the mattress. He's so heavy and clumsy. This cover is amazing because it opens almost completely, it's really easy to slip under the mattress and close it with little effort. This was especially nice since I had to take it off almost immediately after putting it on. It fit perfectly on my queen size mattress with limited space, I didn't have to compress it at all. He wasn't too free either. I highly recommend it for its waterproofing and pet resistance, but I think it's great for other allergies, bed bugs and germs too.
