Review on Stewart Naturals Fresh Freeze Dried Dogs in Food by Lisa Becker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The dogs love it. Note Medium can be 8 oz or 11 oz see label

My dogs seem to like it and get along well. My dogs usually eat frozen raw food or freshly prepared raw food and this was my first experience with freeze dried food. It's an odd color and texture compared to fresh/frozen, but they didn't seem to care. He recovered normally after I broke them. That's almost twice as much as frozen pies, which would probably put me off using them as a regular meal. I was wanting to try them on something else to use as a backup when traveling or in emergencies and it would be perfect for that or just for a change. Edit: I bought this again, including beef this time, and opted for medium patties for the size. I weigh my dogs' food because they are small and getting fat, and I feed them a certain number of calories based on their weight. I was surprised to see a big difference between chicken patties (16g) and beef patties (22g) as the serving recommendations are the same. Although chicken cutlets contain fewer calories per gram, they're also smaller. The label says 100 calories per patty for beef and only 86 calories for chicken. It might not sound like a lot, but my smallest dogs only burn 200 calories a day and that makes a big difference to them anyway. They think chicken is an 8 ounce box compared to 11 for beef. I would have preferred it to be more transparent, with a consistent size and priced to reflect the value of the meat. Basically, chicken is the cheapest type of meat for dog food. I also compared it to another brand that was significantly more expensive. The dogs loved them both equally. Another brand's appearance after restoration appeared "meatier" and larger compared to this brand which has a very fine texture making this product appear more finished. Dogs love it, good quality. I found the labeling misleading which could easily lead to over- or malnutrition in small dogs. Lowering my rating is not enough.
