Review on EnviroCare Replacments Swiffer Unscented Dusters Cleaning Supplies by Janalee Black

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not nearly as good for dust removal as Swiffer, but I've found another use!

First, I have a Swiffer telescoping handle and have used it to clean tops and bottoms; Having cats means their fur will be infested with tumbleweeds in shedding season, but between my Swiffer and my vacuum it's basically a winning battle. My apartment is also one of the dustiest places I've ever lived, I have to dust daily or it looks like I haven't dusted in weeks, others in my house also comment, it's a pain in the ass. I bought this hoping to save money on replacement heads especially during molting season and was sadly disappointed in their ability to pick up dust, hair and cat fur out of the box. They are NOT Swiffer-like material but look like a bad shiny white wig, like something from a cheap Halloween store. They also don't really "fluff" like Swiffers, but are a little sluggish, meaning they don't push through cracks very well. I tried them dry and right out of the box. After trying to inflate it by shaking and then hand, it glided lazily across my table where it didn't collect, just a little dust; Instead, he lifted him in the air or threw him to the ground. I tried fluffing it up again and then tried using it under my couch aka cat heaven and just started moving the hair around. I tried a bit to get it to lift before giving up and using it to move the dust. and hair in front where I sucked it. I was originally going to give them about 1 star because they don't pick up dust like the original Swiffer refills, but once I'd used 32 of these I started experimenting. and found that they make really good disposable mops! My bathroom toilet has a space behind and to the right that is incredibly small, so small and difficult to reach that I can't get a conventional mop in those spaces to clean it. and while I can reach and brush off the front of the right side with my hands, the center and back looked terribly rough because I couldn't reach. No longer! I use them along with a sanitizing bathroom cleaner to get into that corner and behind the toilet and they are now clean and shiny as is the rest of the tile. I was very surprised at how well they did a job removing the dust that was smeared there due to the humidity of the shower, especially given the absolutely poor result they got. I also sprayed some wood floor cleaner on them and used them to clean. Crawling under the cupboards and my sofa, they actually do a great job, the floor shines without a trace of dirt and a lot of effort. I also sprayed a light coat of furniture polish on it and then sanded down the tops of some very large and boring cabinets I'd inherited; now that the fibers were wetted with the product, i was able to insert them into the thread slots with little effort, which saved me the hassle of climbing a stepladder. I was frankly impressed. In summary, these things are terrible if you intend to use them the same way you would use a regular Swiffer replacement fountain pen. They don't collect dust, but instead throw it in the air and on the ground. However, these are great disposable mops that work well in hard-to-reach areas.
