An interesting flashlight. The Hot Blast design is the oldest patented hurricane streetlight design. I only bought it to compare to the more modern (and much more common) Cold Blast design. I've found that the flame tends to flare more than a regular cold blast. Draft. It burns bright enough but I have a feeling the new design will work better in the wind. The hot blast design receives air directly from the chimney and the air is directed to the flame through side pipes. its air also from downspouts, but it sucks fresh air from above and not directly from the chimney. Combustion air is drawn in from the top of the hood and routed down through the side pipes, making them windproof.
