Review on ๐Ÿพ Ideal Pet Products Ruff Weather Pet Door Replacement Flap by Tonya Brown

The weakest link is unreinforced holes

I've had this door for about 12 years now. The door frame is beginning to wear out - chips on the bottom edge, loss of magnets. The original valves lasted about 8 years. Exchanged ones have always been torn into holes for about 18 months. The holes must be reinforced in some way to withstand the stress of a large dog (60lb lab) breaking through the door. At $30 per door every 18 months, after three doors I could replace almost the entire door. This is not an economical product but I feel trapped. I have a hole in the door and dogs have to get out. I spent about $14 on aluminum strips and superglue and reinforced the old sunroof that had been ripped out. I think it will work. If so, then the $14 material is enough to repair 4-5 valves. I cut the aluminum to the correct width and then glued it to the damaged valve. I used a corded drill to drill holes through the existing holes in the valve to make sure they were in the correct position. See photo.
