Review on CyclingDeal - 26-inch x 1.95-inch Mountain Bike Bicycle Slick Wire Bead Tires for MTB Hybrid Bike - Blackwall, Pack of 2 by Juan Moncrief

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Confident, smooth and durable

My old vintage Diamond Back mountain bike has a relatively tall cross country frame and no suspension, so it was primarily used as a road racquet. But it was recently moved to the other end of the garage because of the dried pine cones. Old tires just make it harder to drive and frankly don't inspire confidence when cornering and braking. When I received these new 26 x 1.95 road tires it was an opportunity to rediscover how much fun it is to drive. can be a good, durable, multi-speed road cruiser. These tires are easy to fit and have a really nicely contoured bead that snaps into a somewhat narrow rim and then bulges out. The tread of the tires is quite thick and inspires confidence that they will last a long time. The tread has a defined edge on each edge that makes the tread wider than it would be without it and provides better contact with the road during aggressive cornering. These are kenda gums from Taiwan so given their reputation they should be strong and durable. In addition, their molded bead/tread precision is excellent, so they exhibit little to no "bounce" when mounted on a precision wheel. I had cheap tires with radial run-out of up to 4-5 mm when installed. Their size is less than 1 mm. Inflated to 55psi (379kPa), the tires easily support my weight without much flex and roll very smoothly and quietly. If you have an old unsprung mountain bike that gets used less often because you're now riding in the woods with a big 29er suspension, but want it to be a good road bike, these tires are a great upgrade. Finally, I have an old classic Ortho Virtue that uses tires of this size and I think they are perfect for it. In a more upright riding position, running these tires with a little less pressure would offer a little more comfort and with their robust construction there would be no concerns about wear or durability.
