Not very happy with the cut of the material

I wanted to write this because I don't believe in attacking companies but I had to after having the same problem a second time with this fabric . I have been cutting carbon for more than 6 years, I know how to cut it. My car is quite stable and has proven itself countless times. I use the correct bits so I know it's not a tool fault. This material from this supplier is the most difficult to cut cleanly. A year ago I received several smaller sheets with a matte finish 2mm thick and immediately noticed something strange in the appearance of the fabric. I cut some 50x50 pieces out of it and the edge was terrible. By awful I mean ragged CF hairs all over the place. As with a loose manufacturing process, maybe not enough compaction in sheet metal fabrication? So I got frustrated and ordered a different brand of material and it was flawless. Same machine, same tools, same settings. These pieces came off my table with sharp, clean edges that I had just brushed with a toothbrush. I had to use this material with a file to clean up the edges of the hair, I cut out the details and took the hit. A year later I need 4 sheets of material for some large batches of parts. I remembered this provider and thought maybe the previous experience was just bad. When I received the material, I realized that this was not the case. The weave looked loose again, not as tight as elsewhere. First chassis I carved for an RC customer, my concerns returned. All new knife board, brand new diamond type carbide bur and when it started cutting I noticed the dust was very heavy. It was not cleaned of the cut mark with a vacuum nozzle like other materials. The chassis was torn off and even the top edge was hairy with various strands sticking out. I have 4 sheets or 400x500 and more work than I need at the moment. I lost this chassis because it's not the quality of the product I built my business to be known for. Even after filing and sanding to possibly preserve it, I cannot sell any of this material publicly. For the hobbyist who just cuts a piece and has time to sand and clean the edges, this brand is sure to tick the box. For those who want to remove parts from their car practically for free, I do not recommend this brand. I have used many other brands and to be honest they are all mainly from China so that is not the reason. Whatever manufacturing process is used to make these branded sheets needs to be re-evaluated and changed, it is not a good process. . I have 3 sheets left for prototyping only, this is definitely not high quality production material to rely on for public viewing.

Pros
  • light weight high rigidity
Cons
  • slightly wrinkled
