Good chess table for the price and you get what you pay for

Designed by Toscano "Walpole Manor" The chess table is a midline table that looks great from a distance and is built pretty solid eh I expect it to withstand multiple generations of use. Pros: Looks great and would be a great addition to my library. Feels larger than the size suggests. The large square dimensions mean it fits well with a variety of chess sets. Leg for extra strength Threaded metal inserts for the leg bolts Very easy assembly Well packaged - the box had a few dents on the outside but was well protected with foam padding. However, I had to spend fifteen minutes carefully picking out pieces of styrofoam from every column of the table, but that's a lot better than damage in transit. Cons: Details are a bit haphazard if you look too closely. Three of the four legs were fine, but the fourth leg must have been done by someone new to the job. The attached photo shows that three of the four legs have a corner rectangle cut out at the bottom. . . and the fourth, for some reason, a square. Someone didn't get the note! Poor detailing on fourth leg - if you're easily annoyed by the lack of symmetry, you'll be bothered if you also get inferior detail. An Allen key is not included in the kit (although the instructions say it should be). Luckily I had matching furniture from previous purchases. The bottom of the chess table is really rough - not necessarily a problem as the only ones who see it from this angle are my cats. Not all parts were sanded down, so manual adjustment was required to ensure the kids didn't risk chipping. Plastic clip to prevent drawers from being scratched - something more durable, like metal, would be better to replace this part. Assembly Tips: Open by attaching the legs, pull all the way through as if you don't have tiny hands, you will need all the help you can. Assemble it upside down - should be obvious, but I see some people trying to do it in a way that doesn't scratch the surface. When assembling, put a towel or blanket under the surface of the chess table to avoid scratching the surface. Overall I like it - it's a great table for the price, but at the price don't be surprised if there are any flaws. Without the fourth leg and the shards underneath it would have been a five star table.
