LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I ride a Specialized Sirrus and am an avid rider that clocks in at about 1500 miles a year on a variety of surfaces. It is written I'm not the type in spandex riding shorts, I usually wear regular lightweight gym shorts or pants, with Keen sandals on my feet to keep me cool on the occasional 105 summer days here in Austin, so I need one good saddle as I don't wear soft shorts. I've owned many bikes over the years, but as I no longer race, I've found that a hybrid suits me. My Sirrus is about 9 years old and heavily modified (incl. child seat haha). I usually pick my son up on Fridays, we stop on the way home or maybe to the park for a bite to eat and then drive home about 20 miles of sidewalks, trails and hills. I'm always up for new components to make my pony more comfortable or productive. After trying a few saddles on this bike, I settled on a Serfas FS-243 (a worn fender seat on my Jeep), a very good saddle by any measure, but it always felt an inch too tight for me. I'm 6 feet tall, about 215, and we have a lot of hills around here. Trading them for an extra 60 pounds (baby and seat) would literally kick my ass off because of the width of the seat. When the Lycra cover on the Serfas finally started to tear, I decided to order and compare a few saddles, all 1-2 inches wider. I ordered Planet Bike ARS Spring ($54), Serfas Cruiser EG-8000 E ($54) and Puroma ($17). I expected ARS to win. Not even close, the cheap Puroma saddle is the saddle I was looking for. It has spring suspension, which I prefer (soaks up bumps and road noise much better than elastomeric suspension, and a slight rocking left/right when pedaling gives a bit more power on climbs). The embossed groove is deep and the vent hole is wide. The padding is very deep, soft and comfortable, and the contours of the saddle are perfect for comfortable trading. The saddle material is thick and the construction is solid. If you need a comfortable saddle for long rides, this is the one for you. Don't let the price fool you, this saddle is well designed and built and will make your ride even better. Try it, you will like it.
