The makers of this base made the wrong decision on how to tighten the hinges on this small base - it is very stiff! The reason for this is that they want to claim that it can hold a heavy laptop. Allowed to. But what if you don't have to carry a heavy laptop? Personally, I wanted to be able to place my 12.9" iPad Pro on this stand and be able to easily adjust it. This isn't possible out of the box, but with an 8mm socket wrench, all four pivot nuts can be easily loosened (about 1/8th of a turn past mine Experience with two devices) to loosen the adjustment a bit without compromising the lighter holding efficiency Device Excellent stand! Freedom of movement is excellent, very good workmanship, all parts are aluminum (no plastic). Would buy again.
