Here's the deal: I used a lightbulb on my '72 Yamaha CT-2. She drove 29 miles and then burned out. The reason for this can be twofold. 1. 6VAC headlight circuit. Bicycle scale 6VDC. For some reason Yamaha chose not to repair the headlight circuit, so the bulb may have blown on the AC. When I took it apart I found that the wire from the front of the resistor to the front "board" was blown - it almost looked like a blown line fuse. 2. The wire may have broken due to road/two-stroke vibration. I don't know which. If this bulb could somehow be boosted or sold with a built in rectifier from 6V AC to 6V DC I think they would sell a lot of them. Although it worked, it was MUCH brighter than the typical 6V 35W/35W H4 bulbs made for a motorcycle.
